I eventually went for iPod Touch in late November. The Nook wasn’t out yet to play with, but after looking at the Sony and Kindle screens, I missed the lack of contrast in the e-ink screens, probably because I’d been used to reading on a Palm.

And the iPod has been great. As Carolyn Jewel mentioned above, there isn’t nearly as much of a problem with reading in the sun as I thought there might be, and with the free Stanza app, I can read Word and pdf docs easily. And with the launch of iBooks, I’m hoping it will soon support the epub format as well.

So, what did you decide on in the end? I am having the exact dilemma myself right now: ipod touch 32 or nook. Moving back to Norway in a year, so if I can`t use the wifi over there than it’s a ipod for sure.

But I love reading books, and can’t take all of them with me back home.. so an ebook-reader would be perfect.

I have the iPod touch and the kindle app was/is free. I love it. I was shopping the Kindle, Nook and the new Sony reader. They all had ‘buttons” my husband and I were laughing so much b/c they all seemed so labor intensive. Yes, my screen is small but I have everything that I meet with my iPod itouch. I am actually going to upgrade to an iPhone so that I have it all. Another bonus is that I have 32G, I was so underwhelmed that the others had 350mb, 2G and 3G. Go with the iPod itouch. All th way.
