CNN reports that True Blood, the HBO series based on the Charlaine Harris novels, is the network’s most successful show since “The Sopranos” and “Sex in the City.” Yippee – because that means more episodes to come! Especially since I have no idea how they’re going to wrap everything up in the finale next week.
I also hope it means more mainstream recognition for all things paranormal. As one of the characters was explaining shape-shifters the other week, I kept thinking, “Who doesn’t know what shape-shifters are?” And then of course I had to laugh a little at myself.
One of the things I like best about the show is the way it’s fleshed out the secondary characters – sometimes almost too much so; they start to overshadow the main ones. Bon Temps, LA, is just full of interesting guys. Who gets your pick?

I love True Blood. I’ve never read the books, now I am. *snicker* Bill is WAY to whiny on TV.
My favorite quote “Vampires do not say uh oh.” -Sookie
I agree with you about the secondary characters. They are all much more fun and interesting than Bill(at this point).

I love True Blood! I can’t believe the season finale is Sunday night – what the heck will I do until next summer? lol.
As for the poll, I’m a huge Eric fan and I agree with Kendra – Bill is wayyyy too whiny.

This poll is unfair, because I can only pick one! Torn between Eric and Sam. Sigh.
I am so happy to hear the show is successful. As an author, I like to see genre fiction getting picked up and doing well in the mainstream–because who knows, one day it might happen to ME! LOL It’s good to know that market is out there strong.
As a reader/viewer–woo hoo!! More True Blood! I hope I get to wallow in many more episodes. And force my friends to watch them too. That’s always fun.
My name is Jennifer, and I’m a True Blood addict. I’ve read all the books, too.

Aw, heck, I jumped the gun on the poll. I didn’t read to the end. I want to change my vote to Eric!
Seriously, though, I’m kind of torn on this show. I really don’t like Sookie at all, Bill is so-so (although the last episode rocked with that one girl), and I really hate the brother. I like Tara and her mom A LOT and Lafayette is pretty cool.
